If you are going door to door trick-or-treating this year, I want to share some safety tips with you. 

1. Choose an area that you know well, and make sure that mom or dad comes with you.
2. Wear retro-reflective material on your costume and make sure that your costume does not make you trip.
3. Trick-or-treat down one side of the street before crossing.  Do not zig-zag back and forth across the street.
4. Remember: Look both ways before crossing the street. Watch out for cars that may not see you.
5. Be cautious with animals and do not approach them.
6. Trick-or-treaters should not go inside homes.
7. Wait until you are home to eat a treat.  Let mom or dad inspect the treats first.
